Important Dates/Times to Remember (Note the Schedule is under Documents): 2010-09-01

Hockey: Cape Breton County Minor Hockey is holding it's only checking clinic for Peewee Rep players on Thursday Sept. 9, at C200. Players with last names ending in A -Mac participate from 4:45-6:15 and Mc-Z participate from 8-9:30. This is a free mandatory course for all Rep players and participation in this course is required prior to evaluations. Prior registration is also required before this course is completed. Deadline to register is Tuesday Sept. 7 so please call Pam Reid at 562-1767 (cbcmha@ns.aliantzinc.ca) or Guy Reid at 567-9814 (guyr@syd.eastlink.ca). Hockey: Cape Breton County Minor Hockey is holding it's Rep. goalie evaluations for all divisions on Monday Sept. 6 from 6-7:30 at CBU and Wed. Sept. 8, at C200 from 6-7:30. Prior registration is also required before this course is completed. Deadline to register is Friday Sept. 3 so please call Pam Reid at 562-1767 (cbcmha@ns.aliantzinc.ca) or Guy Reid at 567-9814 (guyr@syd.eastlink.ca). Hockey: Cape Breton County Minor Hockey is holding free warm-up skates for all divisions. Tuesday Sept. 7 at C200, Atoms 6:30-7:30, Peewee 7:30-8:30, Bantam 8:30-9:30, and Wednesday Sept 8 at C200, Midget players from 5-6. These sessions are intended for players to break in their new gear prior to evaluations. We are limited each session to 45 but if there are not enough registered, some groups maybe combined. You must be a registered member of the association prior to booking your spot. Andre Arsenault wins the Denny Deveau Award: 2010-07-05

Cape Breton County Minor Hockey Association's Bantam Female Coach, Andre Arseneau, was recently awarded The Denny Deveau Award. This award was instituted in 2004 in honor of Hockey Nova Scotia Past President Denny Deveau. This annual award is presented by Hockey Nova Scotia in recognition of an individual for outstanding leadership and contribution to the advancement of Female hockey in Nova Scotia. Please see the new coach and bench staff application form from HNS that we will be using this season. You can download this app under documents. We are now accepting coaching applications until June 30, 2010. Please submit your application as soon as possible.

The Boy of Saturday Night: 2009-12-03

The article entitled "The Boy of Saturday Night" was written by Stephen Burke a fourth year Officer Cadet at the Canadian Coast Guard College. Stephen is from a small isolated community in Newfoundland, a place called Tilting on Fogo Island. He has been a student of mine over the last four years and together with several other Officer Cadets and Instructors from the College, we play hockey on Saturday nights.
I submitted this story because I felt that many of those hockey players of all ages who read it could readily identify with Stephen's experience and that it would serve as a story of inspiration to younger hockey players. Ron Walsh
